Hopefully you occasionally back up your data and can now use Desktop Managers restore function to load up your backed up data. Or the systray will show the program disabled.

While the install appears to complete, it will not backup my data and files. Tried installing and running as regular user and as admin. sometimes it's a combination of device version, desktop version and calendar that inhibits one from syncing. With your BlackBerry no longer Nuked, you can run through the Set Up Wizard (set the date/time/fonts, etc.) and from there you WILL NOW BE ABLE TO connect to the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software. Blackberry desktop manager 5 is not compatible with Vista either. I made a backup copy and put the task to rest. I deleted all the CICALSВ on the new BB and synced and I'll be damed, the 1400 or so calendar entries that had been in limbo showed up in the new Outlook. I loaded Outlook onto a computer that didn't have it (so the calendar was completely empty and new). I used the Blackberry Desktop manager to 'switch devices.' It pulled all of the information from my device to the desktop and then synced it to the new Blackberry. The Verizon VZ Access Manager cannot detect the Blackberry either. Problem is that the Blackberry Desktop Manager cannot see the Blackberry on the USB port. As some point after returning home, I figured out that if I held my old BBВ just the right way I could force the screen to go on long enough to give commands. When I plug my Blackberry in, the USB on XP does chime and I do see the Blackberry as recognized in Device Manager. We were traveling so I had to replace it immediately. I had the information ONВ my device but could not for the life of me get it back into my outlook.ДЄs (bad) luck would have it, I dropped my BBВ and the screen went dark. Like most, I had my sync set to go both ways.

I had a year or two worth of entries that after one Desktop upgrade or another were erased from my Outlook calendar. A quick fix is to check that you have 'save forever' and 'sync all' checked in on your device and in your desktop manager. This will make the 'device calendar' - or in other words those entries not associated with an email/calendar and those only in residence on your device - sync with your Outlook calendar.Д¤. If you have calendar entries older than one year OR you have gotten rid of an email address you may be able to sync those entries from your BB back into your Outlook by deleting ALLВ of your CICALs. Choose 'resync' when prompted to keep all the new calendar entries in addition to the ones you've already synced.ДЈ. Go into Options/Advanced/Default Services and choose each calendar.

If you are having issues with missing calendar information make sure you are syncing ALLВ of your calendars. Only ONE calendar will sync to one Outlook calendar at a time. Intuitively it seems the newer version are best for syncing media, the older ones best for Outlook contacts and calendar.Дў. The newer versions (anything after 4.7) of Desktop Manager are very pretty but very quirky. You can also use the device switch wizard to migrate from one BlackBerry device to another.This won't help everyone, however, since I've been searching for an answer for something like two years I felt I needed to share a few things I've learned.ДЎ.
